A well known and documented problem exists where the IC-PW1 will hot switch due to buss collisions on the IC-V serial buss. My station consists of an Icom IC-756 Pro III and an Icom IC-PW1 amp. I bought the DigiKeyer II to replace a SignaLink USB only because itwas advertised it would resolve issues in my station. If you do digital modes on your Mac, be aware that the Mac versions of WSJT-X and fldigi simply will not control your radio through the Digi Keyer II. I decided to upgrade to the Digi Keyer II in order to simplify my cabling and have a higher quality digital-audio system. I was surprised to run into this limitation because I have been using a microHAM USB Interface II (with a separate WinKey USB and separate USB audio Interface) with Mac computers for several years. You'll find that, at most, there are one or two "other Macintosh applications" that actually support the rig-control features of the Digi Keyer II. "supports cocoaModem and other Macintosh applications". The microHAM 'Features' page says "Supported by MacLoggerDX on Mac OS X" and If you use a Mac, however, it's a different story. The Digi Keyer II combines a whole bunch functionality in one small box, with a single USB cable to you computer. If you're using a Windows computer, this a great interface for all digital modes. User, because this is basically the only setup supported by the company. To be fair, I am sure I would give a "5" rating if I were a windows However, as I said, the challenge is not to have this fix, but to be able to recompile the program from the sources (or at least, link it with the updated hamlib). So this should also work will all other programs using hamlib. Why do I call this a design flaw? Because microham knew from the beginning that they won't be able to support all operating systems out there, and without having kernel-type virtual serial drivers (PTYs do not do the job) you are lost unless you plug in support yourself.īTW for those interested, I have a quick-and-dirty fix for hamlib that talks to uHrouter if you select the device name "uh-ptt" for the PTT and "uh-radio" for the CAT serial line. Had microham spent two extra FTDI chips in this device, which is by no means inexpensive, all these problems would be absent. For a CW contest however, I need an additional USB-to-serial converter and an additional Winkey box because I do not have hte source code of my favourite logging software. If you are able to recompile your programs from the sources, it is quite straightforward to build in support for using uHrouter, this I did for fldigi and wsjtx where the DigiKeyer-II offers not only the sound card, but also hardware PTT and a CAT channel - just find. BTW, if you have intermittent PTT loss problems, recompile uHrouter with a reduced delay between the heartbeats, 2.5 sec works fine for me. On a Mac, there exists an external application named uHrouter that does the (de-)multiplexing, but then the communication goes over named pipes and the programs you use know nothing thereof. A design flaw - if they had two extra FTDI chips in there, one would have a separate serial line for CAT and Winkey that is detected by the programs you use. Instead it multiplexes all this over a single serial interface. In principle, the device need to show up as three serial ports, one for the Winkeyer, one for CAT, and one for controlling the device itself. What is missing here is a real digital VOX implemented within DigiKeyer. by a tone on the "other" stereo channel, but your software possibly cannot generate this. Much is said about the device - it works, and I find it great to have real knobs to adjust TX AF output level, this is very convenient if you qsy within a PSK channel. If you own a Mac, be sure to be a programmer.

Then, we need someone knowledgeable to provide us with all the info, and enter Clement, the gym leader of Lumiose City who will also humor us with his wide array of inventions, which will always blow up. Serena is the childhood friend of Ash and the supposed crush of his in the series, she is also the cook of the group. So the highlight should be the new companions that joined Ash on his journey. The Team Rocket Trio is still as cunning and 'evil' as ever and you can always expect them to blast off every episode they are featured in. The old characters who made their return in this series did not change much, Ash is still brave and cares for his Pokemon as much as he did before, and is still a bit of an idiot at times. The background music is often a delight to listen to as it is often the same song that plays in the game, which is sheer awesome.įor the OP and ED, my personal favorite are V (Volt) and DoriDori respectively, and they are often used as inserted songs throughout the series, the former often plays during Ash's gym battles, while the other during Serena's performance. You really can't go wrong with this part when it comes to Pokemon, as most of the voice cast are recurring from the previous generations, and the new voice actors did a good job voicing the new characters. This section alone makes Pokemon XY worth watching. I have nothing much but praise to the animation team, well done. Heck, even the usual Team Rocket motto looked gorgeous! The Pokemon Showcases are truly a spectacle to watch. I always loved looking at animated Pokemon Battles, they are exciting, and on top of that they looked gorgeous in this latest series. Look at Vivillion! It was majestic, almost unrivaled in its beauty. Granted, some characters look weird (for example Grant the Rock gym leader has hair resembling a crystallite), but most of the Pokemon designs in this generation could well be my very favourite, look at Scatterbug! It looked dull and boring in the official art, but in the anime itself it is one heck of an adorable creature. Indeed, the art and animation of Pokemon XY is beautiful, that I was left dumbfounded and jaw dropped at the sight of the first episode. We see our human as well as Pokemon protagonists grow throughout the series, which is pretty satisfying. The pacing is pretty uneven throughout the show, with Ash challenging the gyms at a crawling pace in the first half of the series, then him sweeping a number of them in the latter half. Winning the Pokemon Showcases in order to be granted the right to challenge for the Kalos Queen title, Clemont in his journey to learn more about the world and broaden his knowledge as a gym leader, and finally Bonnie, generally serving as the cheerleader of the party. In Pokemon XY we follow Ash in his endeavor to beat all eight gyms to challenge the Kalos league, Serena in her conquest to obtain three princess keys by You will still see the power of friendship, teamwork, trust and love swirling around every episode, so the basic formula did not change from the old Pokemon series. Pokemon XY turned out to be a really worthy entry for Pokemon fans, old or new to sit down, relax and enjoy.ĭon't expect much story from Pokemon, for it is still a show that is primarily directed towards kids. **Updated 1/11/15 with all episodes seen. Along the way, they meet new friends, face new rivals, and continue to thwart Team Rocket's schemes, all the while discovering a little about the mysteries of mega evolution. Pokemon XY follows the group as they travel throughout Kalos in pursuit of their ambitions-Satoshi challenging Pokemon gyms, Citron learning from Satoshi, and Serena searching for what exactly her dream is. Having left a significant impact on her life, the sight of him stirs in her a desire to meet him again and so, Serena sets off to Miare City, determined to find the boy from her past. After practice, she sees the events unfolding in Miare City on television where she recognizes a boy from her childhood. However, they are soon caught up in a dangerous incident when Team Rocket, following Satoshi into Kalos, cause a Gaburias to rampage through the city.įar away in the quiet Asame Town, a young girl named Serena slogs through daily Sihorn riding practice at the behest of her mother, a professional Sihorn racer. Meanwhile, a genius inventor named Citron and his little sister Eureka wander the city when they run into Satoshi who quickly challenges them to a battle. Satoshi and Pikachu have arrived in Miare City of the illustrious Kalos region to capture more Pokemon and continue their journey towards becoming the very best. Or shock curious guards unconscious by planting lures on zapper traps. Mess with the doors in a building to attract someone’s attention. Watching what happens when you lob permutations at all the weaponized variables is half the fun. Missions in Watch Dogs 2 are like poking ants in an ant farm, little hubs of intersectional activity you enter into after motoring (or warping) to a location. When it feels like you’re hitting tactical synchronicity off improvised solutions to surprises as they crop up, it’s because you are. They’re essential additions to the game’s playground puzzles, and superb examples of design iteration that’s both meaningful and airtight. The latter can’t really hack anything, but lets you reconnoiter battlefields, marking targets so you can decide how best to proceed. The former becomes your proxy in hard-to-reach spaces, skulking through ventilation shafts to reach wall panels that unlock essential routes. In addition to bopping from security cam to cam (as in the last game, based on line of sight), you can now deploy a two-wheeled robot or quadcopter drone from your hiding spot. You’ll steal past the mini-map’s “danger” threshold, then slink between covers spots like desks, potted plants and wall corners. Maybe you’re after a bank of servers nestled in the basement of a corporate complex. Watch Dogs 2 steps up the story, trades the last game’s self-important blather for charming for-the-lulz irreverence and makes the game’s reason for existing - using hacks to play enemies and environs off each other - feel almost jazz-like. It’s certainly better than the 2014 original with its forgettable hero and potboiler cyber-thriller plot. Stay at that comfortable cruising altitude and you’ve got a game that mostly works. The view from 30,000 feet is that you’re a white hat cyber-hero prowling San Francisco’s storied streets putting the world to rights by getting the vox populi its vox back. That he can siphon endless dollars from individual passerby without fear of detection, ghost any Internet-of-Things onramp with a CPU, or zombify opponents by making their cellphones ring - all in seconds per a few button taps - is just cotton candy for the carnival ride. But no, we’re meant to understand the character we play in Ubisoft’s open world hack-a-palooza in abstract: an elite cybercriminal amidst fellow anarchists fomenting a populist revolt. That would be something, by the way, if the protagonist turned out to be an alien from another planet gifted with crazy abilities, or just a dude with paranormal powers. A few examples: The gimmicky police/gang swatting tactics the money that grows on people instead of trees the climbing puzzles always half a block from a scissor lift vehicle the folks who’ll call your headset though you’re standing right beside them the anticlimactic ending with its all but straightjacketed shootout the way you’re really a magical superhero masquerading as a hacker. Watch Dogs 2, out now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, almost lost me so many times I stopped counting. If you’re not using data and insights directly from the platform itself, it can feel like you’re missing out on key information for your SEO strategy. Yet the insanely high regard that SEO marketers and researchers have for Keywords Everywhere speak volumes for the perceived value of Kewords Keg.Google is the most successful and widely used search engine today. Still, it would be nice to have a face and a name to go along with the applications that Axeman Tech is providing to the public, at least to give credit where credit’s due. Meanwhile, the Firefox extension has been reviewed more than 10,000 times and has a positive rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Proof of this is in the 2514 positive ratings that the Keywords Everywhere Chrome plug-in has on its review page, garnering it a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Normally this would be a bit of a red flag, but whoever is behind Axeman Tech obviously knows what they’re doing. Following the breadcrumbs from Keywords Everywhere leads us to the name of the company that develops both applications, an India-based outfit known as Axeman Tech. There’s very little information about the founders of Keyword Keg. The only difference is in the price - $98 monthly or $816 annually - and the ability to have up to five unique users. The Group Plan is functionally identical to the Pro Plan. It includes everything in Starter plus SERP features metrics, SEO difficulty metrics, a CTR scope, and a keyword power metric. The Pro Plan, meanwhile, is $32 a month or $228 annually. Advanced filters, the ability to manage keyword lists and customize columns, and access to AdWords metrics are all included. Under the Starter Plan, which is $16 per month or $144 paid annually, provides a single user an unlimited number of searches and full access to the entirety of the 11 APIs Keyword Keg pulls from. There are three different tiers of membership: the Starter Plan, the Pro Plan, and the Group Plan, and these tiers are differentiated by the number of features available to the user. The usual ‘my girl goes both ways’, ‘my girl is a freak’, ‘my girls a thug’, etc. “Psycho Love” is your typical Psychopathic Records love song of the last 5–10 years. It’s a simple conversation between Hoodoo and a good friend, but it adds a certain humbleness and normalcy, basically reminding the listener that behind the character and storytelling, he’s just an average guy like you or me. Also, I love the phone conversation that closes out the album. This is a prime example of what happens when it works. I always love hearing this label try to go outside their usual box of tricks and experiment with new sounds/genres they haven’t. Guest rapper Blac also does his thing on this song. Featuring a reggae chorus (as well as guest reggae verse later on) and an intense piano instrumental, Hoodoo opens up about the path he’s taken in life. “The Passage” closes out the album perfectly. This song gave me a Tech N9ne vibe, which like the Blaze comparison earlier is not a bad thing. Likewise, “Shadows” speaks on his vices and personal demons that haunt him. “I’ve Seen Pain”, one of my personal favorites, has Hoodoo discussing old friends who have been killed as well as friends who no longer support him or hit him up since signing with Psychopathic and taking on the new Hoodoo image. Detroit legend Trick Trick also appears on the song, providing one of the few guest verses on the album. The song feels like a legitimate release of anger and frustration, rather than a juvenile attempt at being controversial. Hoodoo mentions Trayvon Martin, Freddie Gray, and other African Americans who have been killed by police. “Boom Boom Piggy” falls in line with classics like Insane Clown Posse songs like “Piggie Pie”, but it comes from a different place. It also seems like Big Hoodoo got a lot more personal this time around. Young Wicked and DJ Paul in particular stood out to me on this track. “Monster Squad” is a Psychopathic posse cut featuring Insane Clown Posse, Young Wicked, Bonez, ABK, and DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia/Da Mafia 6ix/Killjoy Club fame. “The Yard” reminds me of a Blaze Ya Dead Homie song but in a good way. “I Bring Death” is a sinister cut, with Hoodoo spitting venomous bars over a bass heavy instrumental with Young Wicked of Axe Murder Boyz handling the chorus work. “Runnin From My Magic” works both as a theme for Hoodoo himself and also an ode to Insane Clown Posse’s classic “Southwest Voodoo” which used the same X-Clan sample (may as well give “Guerrillas In Tha Mist” a shout out as well). Hoodoo isn’t exactly the world’s most amazing lyricist, but I was happy to see that both his flow/delivery and raps themselves had improved this time around. The title track which begins the album (after a brief intro featuring a conversation between a doctor and his psychotic patient) is a strong opener. A lot of “Crystal Skull” sounded like he wasn’t really that comfortable with the themes or production or what have you. Hoodoo had a lot more creative freedom this time around. Upon first listen one thing was obvious though. However, you can’t judge a book by its cover and the same should go for music! I guess it goes with the theme/concept of the album, but that letter font annoys the shit out of me. After delivering solid guest verses on Boondox’s latest album as well as on the Killjoy Club album and Insane Clown Posse’s House of Wax EP, Big Hoodoo is back with his followup album “Asylum”.įirst off, I’m not a fan of the album cover. There were select songs where Hoodoo really stood out though, which is why I’ve continued checking out his work. It’s also tough fitting into that juggalo sound if you’re someone whose used to more tradional Hip Hop (i.e. It’s nothing against Violent J, but occasionally he does go a bit overboard with his creative control/influence. A lot of the album actually seemed like it would have sounded better had it been J doing the songs. There were certainly some solid tracks, and it was obvious Hooodoo could spit, but it was one occasion where Violent J’s influence was a bit too heavy. LinkedIn is a treasure trove of professional data, according to Gene Marks, founder of the Marks Group PC, a firm that specializes in customer relationship management software. “Microsoft doesn’t have a great track record of success with these acquisitions,” Angel said. They jury is still out on the success of that move. Last year, it bought Mojang, the company that developed the video game “Minecraft,” for $2.5 billion. Three years earlier, Microsoft acquired Internet communications company Skype for $8.5 billion, the results of which have been underwhelming. The deal was widely considered a disaster, with Microsoft gutting the Nokia business and exiting mobile hardware two years later. In 2013, Microsoft paid $7.2 billion to acquire Nokia’s mobile phone business and license all its patents. While analysts are generally optimistic about the acquisition, Microsoft’s past bets have given business experts reason to be skeptical. He compares Microsoft’s move to that of IBM, which in the 1990s pivoted away from its core business of PCs to focus on software for office workers. “It follows in the pattern of Microsoft trying to use its huge cash flow from its mature business (Windows and Microsoft Office) to grab onto something else that can grow,” said James Angel, a professor of finance at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business. The addition of LinkedIn - which will retain its “distinct brand, culture and independence” after the acquisition, with Chief Executive Jeff Weiner remaining at the helm - could beef up Microsoft’s work-focused offerings and make them more attractive to businesses and businesspeople.
